Navigating these waters through five museums, from a small regional one to a Guggenheim and Smithsonian, Barbara tells stories from the sublime to the ridiculous. Join us for this enlightening and amusing presentation!

This beginner-friendly class is an introduction to the relief process, the technique used in the oldest forms of printmaking. By creating a single-color linocut print, you will learn the basics of relief printing. We will explore types of carving blocks, inks, and papers, and you will learn how to prepare your carving block, transfer your design, and carve and ink the block. You will make several prints, both by hand printing and using the printing press. (After this class, members will be certified to use the press for relief printing.)
Please read through the relief printing handout (found here) before class, and bring a simple design no larger than 5x8 inches. A good beginner design has a bold image, thick lines, and no fine details. Keeping it simple will help you avoid frustration and allow you to focus on the fundamentals of printmaking. You can find some great ideas by searching for free black and white vector art. Several design options will also be available to choose from in class.
Certification for Members: Printing Press Members who demonstrate proper use of the printing press can be certified for independent access to the tool.
Thanks to generous donations from The Frank Loomis Palmer Foundation , prices of our certification classes are greatly reduced.
Get your tickets today!
Ages: 15+
Please note that the class fee is non-refundable. Plan accordingly.
Printmaking 101: Relief
Diana Higbee and Anne-Lise Saint-Amans reunite on stage at the La Grua Center in a luminous recital that celebrates the joy of friendship and the dialogue between voice and piano. From sultry jazz standards to fiery Spanish melodies and French lyricism, their program blends elegance, charm, and mischief. Together, they reinvent classics like Summertime, Tea for Two, and I Could Write a Book, with a playful intimacy that brings fresh life to every note. Their connection shines especially in Bernstein’s Maria and Weill’s cabaret-inspired colorings, revealing the full expressive range of the soprano-pianist duo who have been working together since 2003.
Rooted in mutual respect and years of musical complicity, this concert is more than a recital. It is a conversation between two artists who share the same love of music. Italian bel canto sparkles in Rossini’s Regata Veneziana and Giusto ciel, while the sensual rhythms of Obradors and Bizet evoke sun-soaked landscapes and the pulse of dance. The French songs, including Delibes’ Les filles de Cadix and Bizet's Ouvre ton Coeur are an hommage to Spanish Music where Rossini's Ariette à l'ancienne shows his love for French music. Whether singing of love’s sweetness or its heartbreak, Diana Higbee’s radiant voice meets Anne-Lise Saint-Amans’ subtle phrasing with perfect synchronicity. It’s a celebration of friendship through music, across genres, languages, and emotions and it is thrilling for both of them to return to the perfect accoustics of the La Grua center where they last performed in 2018.
Tickets $25 online only. There may be a limited number of tickets available at the door the day of the concert. Doors open at 4:30pm. Ages 18 and under admitted for free!

Casey describes herself as a sensitive river girlie writing and singing folky tunes for all the lonely wanderers. She grew up in Illinois, and recently moved to Westerly from Providence, RI. She's recorded two songs, "You'll Be Okay" and "Casey's Song" and is currently working on an album inspired by her obsession with all things water, love and the little irksome things in life, she calls qualms.

100 Watt Suns, John Cafferty and The Beaver Brown Band, The Hoolios, Whitesmoke, Soul Searchers, Brother Big Eye, Green Tea, Water St. Quartet, Crows Toes, and The Collective are just a few of the bands the members of The Troublemakers were playing in while this band formed accidentally in the summer of 2016. A band canceled on a local booker and and after a few phone calls, the lineup was assembled. The lineup includes the area’s most talented, in demand and seasoned veteran players.
Ronnie Lewis plays the drums and handles lead vocals. Sitting next to him is Don “DC” Culp who plays the drums as well. Together they create a devastating pocket. The always busy - and in high demand - Dan Sherer holds down the keyboard/piano duties. Bill Light handles most of the lead guitar work and backing vocals. The band is rounded out by the younger but already seasoned Josh White (rhythm/lead guitar) and Mike Palazzolo on bass.
The Troublemakers play music and have fun, that’s actually their only real rule. No egos and none of the other nonsense that, unfortunately, has become part of being a modern-working musician. It’s refreshing to see them having fun on stage, acting like they are in the garage like when they were kids and just playing music to play music!
The Troublemakers

The Lost Tribe is a drum-centered Afro-funk fusion ensemble, led by percussionist Jocelyn Pleasant. As a traditional percussionist and drum kit player, Pleasant wanted to create a group that showcased the drum as a lead instrument and melodic voice. Her goal was also to provide a platform for musicians of different but overlapping communities to come together. She started the group in 2016, with the goal of infusing the djembe ensemble into African Diasporic music like jazz, rock, blues, and reggae.
In addition to its core members, Lost Tribe performances often include various special guests that reflect the large talent pool of their community. Regardless of the line-up, the staples of a Tribe performance are energy, stage presence and GROOVE. They have opened for international acts Mokoomba (of Zimbabwe), and Trio da Kali (of Mali), were a featured artist at the 2018 Greater Hartford Festival of Jazz, and won first place at the 2019 Valley Music Showcase (of Western Massachusetts).
Their eclectic collection of music is available on Bandcamp and streaming platforms, including the EPs Diaspora and WLCT Radio, as well as two singles released in 2020, Say Their Names and Diaspora Sings.
Join us on Saturday, August 30th 7pm in the Art Park! Tickets $10

Old Dominion with ERNEST is heading to Mohegan Sun Arena with special guest Redferrin September 5th at 7:00pm. Tickets on sale now!
Old Dominion’s skyscraping anthems and electrifying live shows have put the multi-platinum-selling band prominently at the forefront of Country music. Fusing clever lyrics and an infectious sound, their lyrical wit and hook-heavy songwriting has certainly proved to be a winning formula for Nashville’s hottest band. It’s no wonder Rolling Stone cited Old Dominion as “one of mainstream Country music’s most popular live groups.” Since breaking onto the music scene, the band has notched nine No. 1 singles at Country radio, surpassed five billion on-demand streams, earned over a dozen RIAA Platinum and Gold single certifications, and headlined arenas and amphitheaters around the globe.
Old Dominion has received numerous awards, accolades, and nominations from the GRAMMYs, CMAs, CMT, American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, and iHeart Radio. Old Dominion are currently the reigning 8X ACM and 7X CMA “Group of the Year.” The band took home their seventh successive win for “Vocal Group of the Year” at the 2024 CMA Awards – the longest streak in CMA history. To celebrate this historic feat, the band performed a seven-show residency, raising more than $1.25M for seven charities the band has been actively engaged with over their career. Most recently, Old Dominion took home their historic eighth consecutive “Group of the Year” win at the 2025 Academy of Country Music Awards, breaking the records for both all-time and most consecutive wins in the category.
Additional honors include ACM “New Group of the Year,” ACCA “Breakthrough Group of the Year,” AIMP “Songwriter Artist of the Year” and Music Row “Group/Duo of the Year” and “Breakthrough Artist of the Year.” In 2021, Old Dominion received two GRAMMY nominations for their song “Some People Do,” including “Best Country Song” and “Best Country Duo/Group Performance.” At the 2020 CMT Awards, the band took home their first win for “Group Video of The Year.” Frontman Matthew Ramsey was named ASCAP’s “Artist of the Year” in 2017.
Old Dominion’s latest album Memory Lane was released October 6th, 2023. Its title track made history when it became the “No. 1 Most Added Song” at Country Radio for the first two consecutive add weeks of the new calendar year, a feat which no other artist has accomplished since 2010. Old Dominion scored their record-breaking ninth No. 1 single at Country Radio with “Memory Lane.” The track achieved the most spins in a week by any duo or group, (breaking their own record on “No Such Thing As A Broken Heart”).
In September 2024, the band debuted a greatest hits compilation Odies but Goodies. The 31-track collection spans the band’s journey from lark to meaningful headliner in a way that pays tribute to what the fans ask for.

Tickets: $25a/$30d ($3 Service Charge Included With Online Tickets. All sales are final, no ticket refunds or exchanges. Seats are on a first-come, first-serve basis, and seats are not guaranteed with ticket purchase.)
Acclaimed folk-rock trio The Sweet Remains return to touring in support of their highly anticipated fifth studio album, Embers—a mesmerizing collection of ten new songs that showcase their signature acoustic-driven, three-part harmonies. Produced by longtime collaborator and Grammy-winner Andy Zulla, the album features standout tracks like When The World Slowed Down, You Say, Don’t Count Me Out, and the title track Ember. The band's sound seamlessly blends into contemporary playlists alongside artists like John Mayer, Ray LaMontagne, and Jason Mraz, while evoking the timeless harmonies of Crosby, Stills & Nash, Simon & Garfunkel, and The Eagles.
A rare independent success, The Sweet Remains have surpassed 65 million streams on Spotify, earning a devoted global following. Their award-winning feature film, The Independents, a heartfelt and humorous look at their journey in music, is now streaming on Amazon Prime, Tubi, Google Play and other major platforms. The Hollywood Reporter hailed it as “an extremely engaging film,” while the Los Angeles Times called it “a warm and welcoming celebration of music…the musical numbers are frequent and fabulous.”
Formed by Rich Price (Burlington, VT), Greg Naughton (NYC), and Brian Chartrand (Phoenix, AZ), The Sweet Remains is driven by three accomplished singer-songwriters. Rich Price, whose song I’m On My Way was featured on the multi-platinum Shrek 2 soundtrack, has released multiple solo albums and written for film and TV. Early in his career, he was signed to RCA and later Geffen Records. Greg Naughton earned acclaim for his debut indie release, Demagogue & The Sun Songs, praised by Performing Songwriter Magazine as “a magnetic writer and performer.” That album was co-produced by the late Grammy-winning artist Phoebe Snow. Greg’s work extends beyond music—he co-wrote and directed The Independents, inspired by the band’s real-life experiences, and often collaborates with his wife, Tony-winner Kelli O’Hara. Brian Chartrand, a celebrated Phoenix-based songwriter, has released numerous solo albums and tours internationally, including as the creator of Live From Laurel Canyon, a critically acclaimed tribute to folk-rock legends like CSN, Neil Young, and Joni Mitchell.
With Embers, The Sweet Remains continue their legacy, following in the footsteps of their beloved catalog: Music Fills The Spaces (2020), Night Songs (2015), North & Prospect (2012), and Laurel & Sunset (2008).
Embers is available now on all streaming platforms.
