The Bacon Brothers will be performing live at The Cab at Mohegan Sun September 13th at 7:00pm. Tickets on sale now!
The Bacon Brothers have spent the better part of three decades exploring their own mix of Folk, Rock, Soul, and Country music. They call that diverse sound "forosoco," and it's taken them around the world, from headlining gigs in Japan to America.
The exploration continues with the band's twelfth release, Ballad Of The Brothers. It's a record that highlights not only the similarities between Kevin Bacon (known worldwide as an A-list Hollywood actor) and Michael Bacon (celebrated as an Emmy-winning composer), but the differences, too. The two siblings may be bound together by blood and a mutual love of American roots music, but they've grown into sharp songwriters and cinematic storytellers with their own distinct approaches. Ballad Of The Brothers makes room for both of those approaches, offering a mix of edgy alt-rock ("Take Off This Tattoo"), Motown-inspired soul ("Put Your Hand Up"), fingerpicked folk ("Let That Be Enough"), and everything in between. The album also marks the continuation of a musical partnership that began long ago in Philadelphia, where the Bacons were raised on a soundtrack of 1970s singer/songwriters, Philly Soul bands, and Classic Rock acts. Multiple decades and countless shows later, they're creating their own soundtrack, saluting their old-school influences while making music that's undeniably modern.

Local Honey
“Proving the axiom, you get what you give, Local Honey gives an outstandingly inspired performance.” With music that attempts to reconcile through melody and poetry, the fine lines that stand in tenuous balance between love and artistic passion, Local Honey fills your ears with a certain and captivating empathy for the nuances that comprise the grey areas of life. The listener will find themselves dancing up a sweat, channeling positive vibrations and a profound zeal for living, and then a few songs later, dabbing at their eyes with a sudden reminder of the strength and sorrow that is a part of everyone’s stories

Walt Wilkins
“He “Walt” might be one of the most under-appreciated of the modern Texas country scene’s founding fathers, having been best known as the writer or co-writer for many of Pat Green’s best-loved songs, including “Songs About Texas,” “Carry On,” and “Poetry” –- Lonestar Music Magazine.
Grace Morrison
“Her voice smacks of Jewel, and her style, cadence, and song structure is every inch from the school of Joan Osborne, Lisa Loeb, and Natalie Merchant. It’s uncanny.” - Lauren Daley, Boston Globe
“Grace Morrison is the most interesting new songwriter I have heard since I started working with John Fullbright 10 years ago.-” Greg Johnson, Blue Door, OK
In the course of the last few years, Grace Morrison has become established as a confident, refreshing voice in country pop.
Music fans are certain to find much to love with storytelling and her clear, crisp delivery of songs reminiscent of Jewel and Lisa Loeb.
Her songs tell tales about family, persistence, joyfulness, and sadness, and burrow their way into the hearts and souls of those who listen.
Marc Douglas Berardo
Singer-songwriter, performer, and keen observer, Marc Douglas Berardo composes songs that mine the deep feelings and lessons gleaned from real-life characters and situations, along with an onstage presence that uses humor and deft storytelling to rally an audience and lead them into a deep and almost spiritual experience. It’s an adventure that brings to mind James Taylor, Jimmy Buffett, Guy Clark, or Steely Dan with a touch of Mark Twain or Hunter S. Thompson for good measure. An MDB show is a night of laughter and emotion that works to send an audience home with a renewed sense of possibility.
Sarah Mac
Hailing from the east coast and married to a deep love of storytelling, Sarah Mac weaves songs of love, loss and the human spirit that feel timeless and deeply personal. With a voice that blends natural strength and vulnerability, she paints vivid portraits of life’s highs and lows - drawing inspiration from an experience that seems equally familiar with deep sorrow and powerful joy. Whether performing on renowned stages or in the warmth of a living room, her lyrics capture the essence of everyday life—its quiet moments, its struggles, and its beauty. Known for her authenticity and heartfelt connection to her audience, she is carving out her place as an important voice in the New England singer-songwriter landscape.

The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp’s annual Fandango benefit Gala is back! This year’s event, “Once Upon A Camp” will be on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp in Ashford Conn. The annual Fandango Benefit Gala tradition that Founder Paul Newman began to support Camp programs has evolved over time, but the touchstone of the festivities remains – a variety show with campers performing musical numbers, families sharing inspirational stories and celebrity friends joining them center stage. The Fandango show returns to Hole in the Wall’s Theater, with a simulcast stream in Camp’s Dining Hall. Guests will enjoy an afternoon and evening filled with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, food trucks, interactive culinary stations, silent and live auctions, music, and more! The recipients of Camp’s 2025 Most Wanted Award will be revealed. Legendary actor and visionary philanthropist Paul Newman founded Hole in the Wall in 1988 so children with serious illnesses could just be kids while finding fun, friendship, and hope. Hole in the Wall now provides “a different kind of healing” to thousands of children with serious illnesses and family members annually – all completely free of charge. Paul’s innovative spirit, creativity and playfulness remain at the heart of all Hole in the Wall programming.
Theater tickets available for: $2,000 and $1,250. Simulcast tickets available for $500.

This beginner-friendly class is an introduction to the relief process, the technique used in the oldest forms of printmaking. By creating a single-color linocut print, you will learn the basics of relief printing. We will explore types of carving blocks, inks, and papers, and you will learn how to prepare your carving block, transfer your design, and carve and ink the block. You will make several prints, both by hand printing and using the printing press. (After this class, members will be certified to use the press for relief printing.)
Please read through the relief printing handout (found here) before class, and bring a simple design no larger than 5x8 inches. A good beginner design has a bold image, thick lines, and no fine details. Keeping it simple will help you avoid frustration and allow you to focus on the fundamentals of printmaking. You can find some great ideas by searching for free black and white vector art. Several design options will also be available to choose from in class.
Certification for Members: Printing Press Members who demonstrate proper use of the printing press can be certified for independent access to the tool.
Thanks to generous donations from The Frank Loomis Palmer Foundation , prices of our certification classes are greatly reduced.

Ages: 15+

Have you ever seen a quilt that was so beautiful that you just HAD to make it? Well, this is that kind of quilt block. Quilter Timna Tarr made the quilt I saw, and she has generously permitted me to teach it.
This block is quick, simple, and addictively fun to make. Each striped circle becomes unique based on your fabric choices. We’ll start with muslin circles and learn the flip-and-sew technique, followed by a bit of hand sewing, gathering, pressing, and appliqué. Before you know it, you’ll have a quilt block (or two!) ready to become part of a beautiful top.
Students are welcome to bring strips of fabric, approximately 1 ½ inches wide, if they have them, but it is not necessary.
All materials are included in this class.
We will be making one quilt block together, from start to finish. Quicker workers may make more, but there is no hurry. Everyone can work at their own pace.
NOTE: Basic knowledge of a sewing machine is helpful, but not required; students can learn through the project.

Music with Duke Robillard
No Cover!
Thursday, September 25
6-8p | Free
https://knickmusic.com/events/2025/9/25/jazz-cocktails
Whether it's a song, a style, an idiom or an image, Duke Robillard will render it with mastery, power, nuance and an unerring grasp of its essence.
Born Michael John Robillard on October 4, 1948, in Woonsocket, R.I., Duke has carved out one of blues' most illustrious legacies, while also trodding some lofty related territories as a guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, bandleader, studio sideman, producer, label operator and educator.
After showing an early affinity for music and guitar, he founded Roomful Of Blues with pianist Al Copley in Westerly, R.I., in 1967. By adding horns, Roomful announced itself emphatically as the prototypical jump blues band, and became a New England legend and a fixture beyond, as did Duke himself.
His unsurpassed mastery of the guitar style of T-Bone Walker (later crystallized memorably in his 2004 release "Blue Mood") was deservedly heralded, but his breadth was also head-turning - from swing, standards and ballads to rockers, gutbucket Chicago blues and rockabilly.
By the time Duke left Roomful after a dozen years, he was firmly established in the upper echelon of contemporary blues guitarists. Duke went from Roomful to a stint with rockabilly revivalist Robert Gordon and then to the first iteration of the Legendary Blues Band, composed primarily of then-recent Muddy Waters sidemen.
The Duke Robillard Band debuted in 1981, re-emerging as The Pleasure Kings with their eponymous 1984 album on Rounder. It and its sequel, "Too Hot To Handle," burnished Duke's songwriting portfolio; the 1987 jazz outing "Swing" (with saxophonist Scott Hamilton) underscored his versatility and remains a highlight.
Continuing his solo career, Duke replaced Jimmie Vaughan with The Fabulous Thunderbirds in 1990. He cut his own much-awaited straight blues album "Duke's Blues" in 1993 for Canadian imprint Stony Plain, leading eventually to a rewarding, continuing and prolific alliance, along with releases during the ensuing years on Point Blank/Virgin and Shanachie, as well as instructional videos. He has also launched his own labels with Jesse Finkelstein, Blue Duchess/Shining Stone.
Duke's prolificity has included producing albums by Billy Boy Arnold, Joe Louis Walker, Rosco Gordon, Jimmy Witherspoon and Jay McShann, Zuzu Bollin, Billy Price and Otis Clay, Sunny Crownover, Bryan Lee and Al Basile as well as recording two collaborations with Herb Ellis, a pairing with his successor in Roomful, Ronnie Earl, a seat in the New Guitar Summit with J. Geils and Gerry Beaudoin, additional studio credits with Bob Dylan (the well-regarded 1997 "Time Out Of Mind"), Ruth Brown, Johnny Adams, Pinetop Perkins, Snooky Pryor, Al Copley, Todd Sharpville and Tony Z, and touring with Tom Waits in 2006.
Duke's resume is decorated with Grammy nominations, Handy Awards and Blues Music Awards, and other honors for his artistry, recordings and productions within the United States and internationally. On his latest release, "Duke Robillard and his Dames of Rhythm" on M.C. Records, he wields an acoustic archtop and joins six thrushes for evocative and enjoyable renditions of 1920s and 1930s swing tunes; it's a worthy successor to his 2016 BMA-winning "The Acoustic Blues And Roots Of Duke Robillard."
Duke remains based in Rhode Island and a whirlwind as a musician, producer, gardener and photographer. But wait, there's more: he's now creating fine art abstract paintings, too! At this point for Duke, versatility and mastery should come as anything but a surprise; it just means more richness in a superlative career for us to celebrate.
by Dick Shurman- Noted blues historian and producer
- "One of the great players" BB King
- "Robillard is a soloist of stunning force and originality." the New York Times
- "Most everything Duke Robillard has done as a guitarist during the past four-plus decades...bears witness to his musical intelligence and his dedication to his craft".- Downbeat
- "Robillard's ability to play across the spectrum of blues is legendary. Few players can move stylistically from Texas to Kansas City to Chicago's West Side, but Robillard makes it seem easy."- Guitar Player
- "A guitarist's guitarist, prolific producer, and master of all things blues, Duke Robillard walks the tightrope between traditionalism and experimentation...He's a master of many styles who moves forward while maintaining a firm grounding in the past."- Blues Revue
GRAMMY Nominations for Best Traditional Blues Album for 2010 Stomp! The Blues Tonight and 2006 Guitar Groove-a-Rama
The Blues Music Awards (formerly W.C.Handy Awards) have named Duke Robillard "Best Blues Guitarist" four years out of five (2000,2001,2003,2004) making him the second most honored guitarist for that award!
He was also nominated in that category in 2005, 2007 2008.

Saturday, September 27
Bring your dancing shoes
Show: 8p | Doors: 7p
Tickets: $20
https://knickmusic.com/events/2025/9/27-greg-piccolo
At age nineteen, Duke Robillard recruited Greg as one of the earliest members of what became the Rhode Island based powerhouse, Roomful of Blues. The unifying magnet within the group in its early years, 1969 -1971, was focus on the rootsy, retro, danceable, swing sound of the ‘40s and ‘50s. This “new” sound to teenage ears and the recall of this music to the older folks, filled dance floors all over the band’s New England home-base and eventually on the global stage.
For the next twenty-four years, Greg Piccolo had amazing experiences playing with and/or recording with such music legends as Big Joe Turner, Earl King, Eddie “Cleanhead” Vinson”, Pat Benetar, Red Prysock, Stevie Ray Vaughan, to mention only a few.
As Roomful players would come and go, Greg’s twenty-five year contribution evolved to lead singer and bandleader, all the while being noticed world-wide for his signature “fat” tenor sound, unique sax style, and distinguishable vocals.
After nearly twenty-five years with Roomful of Blues, Greg sensed a calling to go back to his roots and develop his “heavy juice” sound. This “less is more” approach gave him the freedom to cover the gamut of his musical longings, which include traditional jazz, r & b, and rock’n roll. He had compiled a well of songs which demanded their own arrangements and band configurations outside of the classic “Roomful sound.” In 1994 he stepped away and officially formed his own band, Heavy Juice, which led to his first solo release, self-titled, “Greg Piccolo Heavy Juice,” on the legendary Louisiana-based Black Top label.
Following were two releases, Red Lights and Acid Blue, on the famous California-based Fantasy Label (now Concord), and his first all instrumental tenor sax release titled “Homage” on the Pennsylvania-based Emit Doog label.
His most recent release, “Who Did This?” is a tribute to his favorite sax recordings and includes an original recorded tenor instrumental.
Now at seventy years of age, Greg Piccolo is still practicing his horn every day, writing his own material, and traveling the world with Heavy Juice.
Piccolo is an example of someone who has always played from his heart.
