Eddie B. soared to new heights by creating his own opportunity starting with his series of comical videos titled “What Teachers Really Want to Say”. In a matter of hours, those videos sparked the attention of educators all over the country when they realized that they were not alone and finally had someone to joke about the things they were reluctant to say out loud.
Shortly after, Eddie decided to take his videos to the stage selling out comedy clubs, theaters, and arenas with his “Teachers Only Comedy Tour” in 2017-2018 and the “I’m Already Professionally Developed Tour” in 2019- 2020. When the worldwide pandemic made it impossible for Eddie to see his fans in person he began performing his “Teachers Only” comedy virtually! Now that things are getting back to normal Eddie B is ready to give educators more of his unfiltered comedy beginning with his ” Teachers Only Summer Break Tour” in 2021!
Eddie B has established himself as the official voice of teachers across the globe. Educators from America to Africa, Dallas to Dubai, New York to New Delhi (and beyond) are getting a lesson in the funniest ways to express their worst frustrations and they are loving every second of Eddie B’s uncensored, raw, and hysterically realistic portrayal of a teacher’s hectic life, from the point of view of an actual teacher!

ArtemBelogurov
Viennese Classical piano after Joh. Andreas Stein (1783),
copy by Gerard Tuinman, Utrecht, NL (2023)
Mozart on his own Piano
Sonata in F, K.280
Variations on Ah, vous dirai-je, Maman, K. 265
Duport Variations in C, K.573
Fantasia in c, K.475 & Sonata in c, K.457
Pianist Artem Belogurov's sixth Music Matters appearance celebrates a handful of Mozart's most endearing piano works. It's also the North American début of a magnificent new Mozart-era piano, built recently by one of the great Dutch instrument makers. This Stein piano has two interchangeable keyboard actions. Artem will play one half of his recital on the action with cherry wood hammers, as Mozart did in the early 1780s. He'll play the other half on the revolutionary leather-covered hammers that took Vienna by storm in 1783. Mozart's music is compelling on its own merit, but hearing the very sounds he wrote for takes it to a visceral, memorable level. Please join us for Artem Belogurov's return, and for Mozart at his most moving!
Advance tickets $25 online ONLY. A limited number of tickets may be available at the door on a first come, first served basis. Doors open at 4:30 pm.
Music Matters: Mozart on His Own Piano
William Evertson uses collaged imagery, often blending historical art with modern references, he creates familiar yet irreverent scenes packed with socio-political commentary. This allows him to examine current rhetoric through historic counterpoints.
The woodblock printing method provides a bold, graphic media through which he seeks to understand the structure of both past and present. Combining historical research with old printing technology to comment on new but recurring issues, he unpacks pervasive societal flaws that cross time and culture.
Lauren Correa is an artist with a vision expressed through the lens. Three time EMMY AWARD winner for her work at CBS Sports & NBC News for editing/ pre production & live TV coverage.
Her work in this exhibit is a transformative journey within one's self. While emerged within the chaos, sometimes one has to go into the depths of darkness to find clarity. In stillness, peace is found. With faith, trust & a glimmer of hope, the light from within will guide the way. All that was chaotic is illuminated. Fear becomes an illusion and the truth is revealed, lighting the path to freedom. Ascending from the self imposed restrictions to love, light, and freedom. The transformation and rebirth begins.
Please join us on Saturday, June 7th for the opening 6-9pm

“In a world where music is often a brittle artificiality, the music Grayson Hugh makes is hard and strong, convicted and convincing. And true. Most of all, true. It's there in the gritty lament of his voice, in the roughhouse eloquence of his piano, and the atmospheric poetry of his words. And his lyrics! If you love words, if you’re one of those people for whom heaven is a rainy day and a good book, then know this: Hugh doesn’t write words — he writes pictures.
He has that thing Sam Cooke and Ray Charles had, that thing you still hear sometimes in Bruce Springsteen, that lonely, train whistle in the dark thing, that yearning, keening thing that gets right to the heart of what it means to be alive, what it means to be a human being.”
- Leonard Pitts Jr., Miami Herald, March 8, 2010 (Winner of the 2004 Pulitzer Prize for Commentary)
Here is an opportunity to hear Grayson Hugh & Polly Messer perform Grayson's hits from radio and Oscar-winning movies and from his many records, including songs from his brand new roots country album "Save Your Love For Me".
Grayson Hugh and Polly Messer have brought the artistry of Grayson's songs to concert audiences throughout the U.S. and overseas, including The Cutting Room in NYC, Hill Country NY, City Winery NY, Village Studios, Los Angeles, CA, The Port Hardy Civic Center, Port Hardy, Vancouver Island, B.C., Canada, and The Blue Note Jazz Club, Poznań, Poland.

“Proving the axiom, you get what you give, Local Honey gives an outstandingly inspired performance.” With music that attempts to reconcile through melody and poetry, the fine lines that stand in tenuous balance between love and artistic passion, Local Honey fills your ears with a certain and captivating empathy for the nuances that comprise the grey areas of life. The listener will find themselves dancing up a sweat, channeling positive vibrations and a profound zeal for living, and then a few songs later, dabbing at their eyes with a sudden reminder of the strength and sorrow that is a part of everyone’s stories.

The artists of Gallery One are pleased to present the Artful Alchemy exhibition celebrating the fusion of styles, techniques, and artistic traditions. Each artist channels their inner alchemist, blending materials, experiences, and ideas to create rich visual narratives. Join the artists for the opening reception on Friday, May 9 from 5pm to 7pm.
Exhibiting artists include: Rosemary Cotnoir (Westbrook), Victor Filepp (New London), Karen Israel (West Hartford), Michael Fanelli (Clinton), Ann Knickerbocker (Old Saybrook), Brian McClear (West Hartford), T. Willie Raney (Ivoryton), Diana Rogers (Clinton), Rick Silberberg (Ivoryton), and Jill Vaughn (Ivoryton).
“Artists are like modern-day alchemists, transforming diverse materials and emotions into works that are beautiful, innovative and thought-provoking,” said Michael Fanelli.
“Each stroke of paint and color interacts and mingles, and that is the alchemy that brings a painting to life,” said Diana Rogers. “Using pure pigments and color is ideal for honoring nature and the vibrant hues of life along the shoreline.”
The exhibit is on view May 9 through July 2 at the La Grua Center located at 32 Water Street in Stonington, CT. The opening reception is Friday, May 9 from 5pm to 7pm and is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday from 1pm to 4pm and other times by appointment through La Grua Center at 860-535-2300. This beginner-friendly class is an introduction to the relief process, the technique used in the oldest forms of printmaking. By creating a single-color linocut print, you will learn the basics of relief printing. We will explore types of carving blocks, inks, and papers, and you will learn how to prepare your carving block, transfer your design, and carve and ink the block. You will make several prints, both by hand printing and using the printing press. (After this class, members will be certified to use the press for relief printing.)
Please read through the relief printing handout (found here) before class, and bring a simple design no larger than 5x8 inches. A good beginner design has a bold image, thick lines, and no fine details. Keeping it simple will help you avoid frustration and allow you to focus on the fundamentals of printmaking. You can find some great ideas by searching for free black and white vector art. Several design options will also be available to choose from in class.
Certification for Members: Printing Press Members who demonstrate proper use of the printing press can be certified for independent access to the tool.
Thanks to generous donations from The Frank Loomis Palmer Foundation , prices of our certification classes are greatly reduced.
